Bandari College

"Bandari College was established in 1980 as a training and staff development institution for the Kenya Ports Authority. The College today caters for the training needs of the Maritime industry. It also provides facilities for holding workshops, seminars and conferences."


"The Current Learning Resources Unit was initially named Audio Visual Aids Unit. The Unit was established at the inception of Bandari College (1980) with two persons running the unit, an Audio Visual Aids Officer and an Audio Visual Aids Assistant. The Current Learning Resources Unit has four established posts,

  • a Head of Learning Resources,
  • Audio Visual Aids Officer (facilities),
  • Audio Visual Aids Officer (production) and
  • a Machine Operator.
The Unit supports learning experience in Bandari College in the form of education technology facilities, both hardware and software. Staff in the unit acquire from the market and stock appropriate learning resources and produce new learning resources where necessary. The AVAO (facilities) doubles up as the College IT support staff. The unit falls under the Administration Section of Bandari College. Currently the unit manages the following College facilities: -
  • Four computer labs
  • One Simulator lab
  • Audio Visual Aids Officer (production) and
  • Learning Resource Centre
